BIO applauds U.S. EPA for Renewable Fuel Standard

Brent Erickson, executive vice president of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), said recently, “We thank the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for maintaining consistent implementation of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).  Consistent, stable policy is necessary for advanced biofuels companies to raise the capital required to construct new biorefineries and produce commercial scale volumes of biofuels.”  BIO congratulated the EPA for its review and projections for cellulosic biofuel production in the proposed rule for the 2012 Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS).  Erickson said the RFS will help biofuel producers gain access to capital that is needed to generate new economic opportunities.  BIO has more than 1,100 member organizations including biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers, in the United States and 30 other nations.
