BDI-BioEnergy to build new multi-feedstock biodiesel plant in Hong Kong

BDI-BioEnergy International has been commissioned by ASB Biodiesel to build a 100,000 ton per year multi-feedstock biodiesel plant in Hong Kong. The plant is expected to start up in 2013 and will use grease-trap waste as its primary feedstock. Grease traps are devices used to separate grease and oil from waste water.
It will be the first plant of this size in the world that operates almost exclusively on the basis of grease trap waste. The plant in Hong Kong will also be able to process used cooking oil and animal fat as raw materials, it added.
Output from the plant will meet the European EN 14214 biodiesel fuel standard and the sustainability requirements under the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive.
BioEnergy is a privately held technology company that specializes in next generation biorefineries. They use microorganisms to transform manufacturing processes and create plastics, fabrics and fuels.
