BASF starts brake fluid production in Shanghai to meet growing demands

BASF brake fluidBASF has inaugurated its new brake fluid production in Shanghai, China. Increasing demand for motor vehicles, especially in China, has prompted BASF to manufacture brake fluids in Shanghai. This expansion of its global production network serves the fast growing demand for brake fluids in the local market and further strengthens BASF’s manufacturing footprint in Asia, especially China. The new production is an extension of BASF’s existing coolants production in Shanghai.
“Brake fluids are an important element in our product range. We wish to support the growth of our customers in the automotive industry with a local presence and to guarantee them high standards of quality and reliability of supply,” said Martin Widmann, head of BASF’s global business management Fuel and Lubricant Solutions.
The fluid used in a brake system is a high-tech product vital for automotive safety. Brake fluids have to pass severe test conditions such as fluctuations in temperature, simulated emergency braking and fleet tests in order to prove their suitability for modern cars. BASF is the top supplier of brake fluids for advanced brake-system technologies with the widest set of product approvals in the automotive industry.
“Our technical competence supports the development of innovative products to tap into new market opportunities and enable us to react in a timely way to market requirements,” said BG Ooi, vice president of Fuel and Lubricants Solutions Asia Pacific.
