Banpu to invest US$99 million in wind, ethanol
In an effort to diversify the company’s revenue stream, which is primarily based on coal mining, Thailand’s Banpu PLC will invest US$99 million in wind power and ethanol. Investment in alternative fuel development will run over a four-year period. The company is testing wind speed for three planned solar farm plants, as well as conducting a feasibility study to develop a cassava-based ethanol plant with Mitr Phol Sugar Group. (April 1,2011)
