Bangchak to acquire 2 ethanol plants
Thailand’s Bangchak Petroleum will invest roughly 2 billion baht (US$65.41 million) to acquire at least two ethanol plants by next year, The Nation reports. Company President Anusorn Sangnimnuan said demand for fuel ethanol is increasing. He forecasts that ethanol demand will jump to 400,000 barrels per day (bpd) from 200,000 bpd in 2009. The company expects to acquire the first ethanol plant by the end of this year. The size of the investment and the plants production capacity were not revealed. (September 21, 2010)
