Bangchak Petroleum urges new Thai government to push biodiesel

Bangchak Petroleum is urging the new government in Thailand to help increase the demand for biodiesel in an effort to assist producers of biofuel.  Several of the biodiesel plants have shut down due to uncertainties in the government’s future renewable energy policy.  President Anusorn Saengnim-nuan said last week that biodiesel plants had shut down due to the government not being able to pursue its policy to produce B100 biodiesel commercially.  Currently, biodiesel supply exceeds demand and biodiesel producers have no market for their product.  Anusorn said the government should end the policy to subsidize diesel prices and instead support other sectors, such as transportation.
