Balmer Lawrie plans lube unit in Indonesia
India’s Balmer Lawrie and Co. Ltd. plans to build a lubricating oil and grease plant in Indonesia within a year’s time. The company has formed a joint venture with Pt Imani Wicaksana of Indonesia for the project. S.K. Mukherjee, managing director, said that the size of the project is US$5 million. The joint venture partners would each invest US$1.25 million as equity. The Indonesian project will have a combined capacity of 6,000 tons a year of greases and lubricants. Balmer Lawrie manufactures Balmerol-branded lubricants for the domestic and international market. The company has reported a gross turnover of Rs1,776 crore (US$370.42 million) this fiscal year.
