Bajaj to invest in new assembly plant in Indonesia

PT Bajaj Auto Indonesia (BAI) said that it will build a new assembly plant in Indonesia by 2009, with an investment of around US$60 million. The new factory will expand the current production capacity of BAI of 100,000 units per year. Transport Director General Budi Darmadi said BAI, the sole agent for Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle, will start construction in mid-2009. Its principal, Baja Auto, which is based in India, is the fourth largest producer of motorcycles in the world and the second in India with a business turnover of about US$2.7 billion a year.
