Azerbaijan’s two refineries increase output in 2011
Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee said that oil refineries in the country increased production by 0.9% in 2011 compared to last year. Production of car gasoline rose by 3.6% to 1.2957 million tons, while straight-run gasoline went up by 0.5% to 218,600 tons, kerosene posted a 3.4% increase to 621,500 tons, and diesel fuel rose by 0.1% to 2.49 million tons. Production of lubricants rose by 4.8% to 90,000 tons, and bitumen oil reached a 10.1% increase to 265,700 tons. Azerbaijan has two oil refineries, Azerneftyag and the G. Aliyev refinery in Baku, which have a combined annual refining capacity of 22 million tons of oil. (January 20, 2012)
