Azerbaijan approves four new fuel standards
State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan has adopted national standards for four types of petroleum products, the State Committee reported on February 16. According to the report, the State Committee has approved standards AZS 380-2011 “Diesel fuel. Technical specifications” and AZS 381-2011 “Euro Diesel. Technical specifications.” The committee also approved standard AZS 388-2011 “Motor fuel. Unleaded petrol. Technical specifications,” which refers to unleaded petrol used for motor vehicles, and standard AZS 443-2011 “Motor fuel for medium-and low-speed diesel engines. Technical specifications.” SOCAR, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, which owns two refineries in the country, intends to switch to producing Euro 3 standard gasoline in 2012, and Euro 3 standard diesel fuel by the end of 2011.
