Australian ULSD switchover fears
Concerns of a product squeeze in Australia when it switches over to ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) from the start of 2009 were allayed as it emerged that Infineum R655 is not the only lubricity additive registered and approved by Australia’s National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS). News that R655 is the only approved additive sparked worries, because cargoes containing this additive could be hard to source. Australian sources have slammed this report, saying three other additives used to enhance the lubricity of low sulfur diesel are approved for the import or manufacture of ULSD under NICNAS.
