Australian motorists overcharged for premium fuel

National Roads and Motorists’ Association (NRMA) research says that Queensland motorists are being overcharged by up to A$0.04 (US$0.03) a liter for premium fuel.Bundaberg drivers buying premium fuel are being ripped off at the bowser, with research suggesting stations are charging A$0.11(US$0.09) more than for regular fuel. โ€œOn July 29, 2007, the weekly average gap between regular and 98 octane petrol was around nine cents per liter; on August 30, 2009 the gap was almost 15 cents,โ€ NRMA President Wendy Machin said. NRMA has approached Petrol Commissioner Joe Demasi demanding an investigation into the expanding gap between premium and regular fuel prices. (October 2, 2009)
