Australia gives grants to 4 renewable energy projects

Australian Resources & Energy Minister Martin Ferguson announced government grants totaling A$235 million (US$210.06 million) for four commercial-scale renewable energy projects. When combined with capital from successful applicants, the government money will deliver A$810 million (US$724.04 million) in renewable energy investment and when the projects are operating 74 megawatts of new renewable generation capacity. Companies awarded grants were Geodynamics Ltd., Petratherm Ltd., Tasmanian government-owned Hydro-Electric Corp. and Victorian Wave Partners Pty. Ltd., owned by construction giant Leighton Holdings Ltd. (November 6, 2009)
