Apparatus that reduces PM gets U.S. patent

Japanese inventors have developed a device for burning and reducing particulate matter. Tokyo-based Tetsuro Toyoda from Nishitokyo and Katsunori Matsuoka from Ome were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,473,288 on January 6, which was assigned to Clean Diesel Technologies Inc. in Stamford, Connecticut in America. According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, the apparatus is provided to burn and reduce particulate matter (PM) in the exhaust gas of a diesel engine while collecting PM on filters at a low collection rate of 50% or less in total.
