Amyris posts US$20.3 million loss in third quarter

According to a report published by the Associated Press, California-based sustainable energy company Amyris Inc. posted a lower quarterly loss on lower operating costs compared to a year earlier. The company said it booked a US$20.3 million net loss during the third quarter, compared to a US$43.7 million loss in 2011.
On weaker product sales, Amyris also reported a 47% fall in quarterly revenue to US$19.1 million from US$36.3 million.
Amyris is involved in the conversion of plant sugars into hydrocarbon molecules, which are then used in various products such as cosmetics, flavors, lubricants, diesel fuel and jet fuels. (November 7, 2012)
