Amyris and Total enhance technology collaboration agreement

Amyris, Inc. and Total have signed an amendment to their existing technology collaboration agreement; under the terms of the enhanced collaboration, Total will exclusively use its US$82 million funding budget over the next three years for the production of renewable jet and diesel fuel, and for the deployment of the renewable farnesene of Amyris, called Biofene. Once the research and development program has been completed, the two companies plan to form a joint venture company. The joint venture will have exclusive rights to produce and market renewable diesel and jet fuel, as well as non-exclusive rights to other specialty products. โ€œToday we reaffirm our strategic relationship with Total to achieve our joint development and commercialization objectives for renewable diesel and jet fuel,” said John Melo, President & CEO of Amyris. Commenting on the partnership with Amyris, Philippe Boisseau, President, Supply-Marketing and member of Total’s Executive Committee said, “With this refocused partnership, we’ll reach our business objectives, expand our ability to become a key supplier in renewable fuels and better meet our customers’ highest demands.โ€ (July 31 2012 )
