American Power Group completes heavy-duty truck test trials in Australia
A subsidiary of GreenMan Technologies Inc., American Power Group (APG), said it has successfully completed heavy-duty truck test trials in Australia using the company’s Dual Fuel System that uses diesel fuel and liquefied natural gas (LPG). APG had made an agreement with Wesfarmers LNG Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Kleenheat Gas to convert two heavy-duty diesel trucks to APG’s Dual Fuel system. The Dual Fuel system displaces 40% to 60% of diesel fuel consumption with compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), well-head gas or bio-methane. The system is non-invasive and any vehicle using the system can be returned to regular diesel operation at any time. The system allows for lower carbon emissions, nitrogen oxide and particulate matter emissions and extends the engine oil life. GreenMan President and CEO Lyle Jensen said, “Passing the Australian test trials is a major performance milestone for APG. We are extremely pleased to report that all fuel displacement, reliability up-time, and emission results met or exceeded EVOL LNG’s performance criteria established at the beginning of the trials. The Australian Outback super-highway is one of the world’s toughest driving environments and the APG Dual Fuel System performed exceptionally well on high-horsepower diesel engines where natural gas solutions are not yet available from many dedicated alternative fuel system providers. In Australia, we have added ‘durability performance’ to the economic and environmental benefits of our dual fuel technology.” (June 1, 2011)
