Alcan and Arrow Energy looking at GTL
Alcan, the world’s second largest alumina producer, has stepped up its search for fuel supply outside of the beleaguered Papua New Guinea gas pipeline by linking with a Queensland coal seam gas producer. Alcan, with head office in Montreal, Canada, said it was working with Brisbane, Australia-based Arrow Energy to carry out a feasibility study on a gas-to-liquids project in Queensland, Australia. The Australian arm of Alcan has been desperate to lower fuel costs at its Gove refinery in the Northern Territory after costs for its expansion increased by up to 25%. (October 7, 2006)
