AkzoNobel to build ethylene plant
Dutch company AkzoNobel is building an ethylene amines plant at its multi-site in Ningbo Chemical Industry Zone, following the approval by Chinaโs National Development and Reform Commission. The ethylene amines plant of AkzoNobel is designed to use ethylene as feedstock sourcing from the forthcoming one million tons-per-annum (t/a) ethylene project in Sinopec Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Co., Ltd., which is currently undergoing installation and scheduled for startup in 2009. The ethylene amines plant is estimated to need 56,000 tons of ethylene per year, of which 25,000 tons of ethylene is supplied by the new ethylene project in Sinopec Zhenhai. (December 16, 2008)
