Afton Chemical launches new additive for heavy duty diesel engine oil
Afton Chemical launched HiTEC® 8744X Heavy Duty Diesel Oil (HDDO) additive, developed to address the need of the modern heavy duty diesel fleets in the world’s fastest growing markets.
HiTEC® 8744X HDDO Additive targets the after warranty vehicles segment with a unique profile focusing on API CH-4 only, the most desirable claim for fleet operators in India and a growing requirement in emerging economies. Yet it can be used for under warranty applications with the addition of a booster, extending the profile to API CI-4 and key OEM requirements.
Afton Chemical, which is committed to developing market-focused solutions, asked 500 owner-drivers through to Super Fleet operators in India what they most valued in a HDDO. The company developed a solution to address their needs, HiTEC® 8744X HDDO additive. India will become the second largest commercial vehicle market by 2015.
HiTEC® 8744X HDDO Additive has been developed in Group II base oils and offers Viscosity Index Improver (VII) flexibility – from 25 to 35SSI Olefin Co-Polymer (OCP) – for cost-optimization.
Additionally, HiTEC® 8744X HDDO Additive has been tested in a 40,000 km severe field trial using Indian trucks and base oils. It has shown superior performance in areas that we know are valued by end users such as engine wear-and-tear protection and power maintenance.
Afton, which is based in Richmond, Va., U.S.A., develops and sells an extensive line of unique additives for gasoline and distillate fuels, driveline fluids, engine oils and industrial lubricants. It is part of the NewMarket Corporation (NYSE: NEU) family of companies.
