Aemetis and ChevronLummus Global sign license agreement
Aemetis, Inc., and ChevronLummus Global (CLG) signed a global license agreement, which involves the inexpensive and rapid production of renewable jet and diesel fuel. Aemetis, an advanced fuels and renewable chemical company, said the expanded license agreement grants its wholly-owned subsidiary, Aemetis Advanced Fuels, Inc., the use of the Biofuels ISOCONVERSION process which was developed by ChevronLummus Global and Applied Research Associates (ARA).
“This agreement will enable Aemetis to produce and deliver 100% drop-in alternative jet and diesel fuels with lower capital and operating costs than existing technologies, meeting commercial and military demand in Europe, Asia and other regions,” explained Chuck Red, biofuels program manager for ARA.
Leon de Bruyn, managing director of Chevron Lummus Global, said the agreement will expand the use of the unique, low-cost refining process developed by ARA far beyond North America and will soon include global jet and diesel fuels production. Bruyn said Aemetis’ biodiesel plant in Kakinada, India, as well as other Aemetis projects worldwide will use the Biofuels ISOCONVERSION process.
“As global fuel supply chains seek to become less dependent on crude oil due to supply and price uncertainty, the availability of replacement jet and diesel fuel from sustainable, renewable feedstocks will be rapidly adopted as a primary source of storable, transportable, dense energy for military and commercial operations,” said Eric McAfee, chairman and CEO of Aemetis.
