Adulterated fuel in Bangalore stations result in contract termination
Based on allegations that many service stations are selling adulterated fuel, an official with state-owned Indian Oil Corp. said that the company has recently terminated the permits of three located in Okalipuram, Bannerghatta Road and Yeshwantpur in Bangalore, after variations were found in the fuel. Nearly 550-600 loads (tankers) are supplied to the 220+ service stations in the city daily. Some service station owners, however, say there is no regularity in the quality checks. Dealers have repeatedly urged oil companies to make quality standards stringent, said Bangalore Petroleum Dealers’ Association President GV Bhushan Narang. (August 27, 2006)
