Adeka introduces pour point depressants for biodiesel
Japanese additive maker Adeka Corp. has started supplying samples of pour point depressants for biodiesel applications in the U.S. and Japan. Adeka, based in Tokyo, has developed two types of pour point depressants for different biodiesel feedstocks: one for biodiesel made from waste edible oils and another for soybean-derived biodiesel. Biodiesel tends to lose fluidity at temperatures of minus 2 to minus 5°C and starts to gel, but when mixed with pour point depressants at concentrations of 1%, it will solidify at minus 25°C.
