ADB seeks to cut transport sector emissions
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) in May signed a declaration stating immediate action is needed to minimize carbon dioxide emissions in the transport sectors of developing countries. According to the international organization, emissions from the transport sectors of developing countries have to be lessened by 2030, as their levels are growing rapidly. ADB predicts transport-related carbon dioxide emissions to rise 57% from 2005 to 2030, with about 80% of the increase caused by developing countries. (May 29, 2009)
