Adaro, Komatsu to produce biodiesel in Indonesia

Coal miner PT Adaro Indonesia and heavy equipment company PT Komatsu Indonesia plan to build a biodiesel factory in Kalimantan, Indonesia. The factory with an annual capacity of 1.1 million tons is to be operational in August, Priyadi, a manager of the country’s second largest coal producer, said. The factory will use jatropha curcas as the feedstock to be grown in land that was formerly Adaro’s coal mining area, Priyadi said. The project is part of the program to make use of land reclamation over more than two hectares of former coal mining concessions. (May 26, 2010)
