Key changes in TotalEnergies executive committee leadership

TotalEnergies has announced several changes to its executive committee, effective September 1, 2024. These appointments reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its leadership in key strategic areas.

Bernard Pinatel, currently president of Refining & Chemicals, will assume the role of president, Downstream and President Marketing & Services, while continuing to serve on the executive committee. Pinatel’s extensive experience, including his tenure at Bostik and Arkema, positions him to lead TotalEnergies’ downstream operations and marketing efforts effectively.

Pinatel began his career at Booz Allen & Hamilton before joining TotalEnergies in 1991, where he held various operational roles in production plants and subsidiaries. He served as CEO of Bostik in France and Europe from 2000 to 2006 and later became chairman and CEO of Cray Valley from 2006 to 2009. In 2010, he returned to Bostik as chairman and CEO and joined TotalEnergies’ management committee in 2011. After Bostik’s acquisition by Arkema in 2015, he became executive vice president of High-Performance Materials. In 2016, he was appointed president of the Refining & Chemicals segment at TotalEnergies and joined its executive committee.

Pinatel is a graduate of the École Polytechnique and the Institut d’Études Politiques  (IEP) de Paris and has an MBA from the Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires  (INSEAD). He is also a statistician-economist (École Nationale de la Statistique et de  l’Administration Économique – ENSAE).

Vincent Stoquart, who currently serves as senior vice president of Renewables, will take over as president of Refining & Chemicals, also becoming a member of the executive committee. Stoquart’s leadership in renewables and his experience in various roles across TotalEnergies, including his time in the United States and Belgium, will guide the company’s refining and chemical divisions through the evolving energy landscape.

Stoquart has held the role of senior vice president of Renewables since 2021. Prior to this, he served as senior vice president of Refining and Petrochemicals Americas from 2019 to 2021, during which he also acted as the country chair for TotalEnergies in the United States, based in Houston, Texas. Before that, he was senior vice president of Polymers at TotalEnergies Refining & Chemicals. Between 2012 and 2017, he managed the Flanders site in Dunkirk, France, and later became president of TotalEnergies Learning Solutions. He began his career at TotalEnergies in 1998 as an engineering project manager at the Feluy Polymers Plant in Belgium. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Catholic University of Louvain and a Diploma in Aeronautics and Aerospace from the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics.

These changes highlight TotalEnergies’ focus on sustainability and innovation as the company continues to transition towards greener energy solutions.
