Innospec expands in South America with QGP Química acquisition
Innospec Inc., a global specialty chemicals company based in Englewood, Colorado, U.S.A., has successfully completed the acquisition of QGP Química, a Brazilian specialty chemicals firm. The financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
This acquisition marks a significant expansion for Innospec into South America, a key global market for the company’s diverse technologies. QGP Química brings new surfactant and specialty chemistry capabilities to Innospec, enhancing its presence in growing sectors like agriculture.
Established in 1992, QGP Química employs around 300 people. Innospec plans to integrate QGP into its Performance Chemicals division, leveraging the Brazilian company’s expertise and market position.
Patrick S. Williams, president and chief executive officer of Innospec, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition. “We’re thrilled to welcome QGP to Innospec. Their founders have built a specialty chemical company that mirrors our commitment to innovation, customer service, and technical support. QGP’s product development and manufacturing skills complement our Performance Chemicals markets, including Personal Care, Agriculture, Home Care, Industrial Chemicals, Construction, and Mining,” Williams said.
“This acquisition aligns with our M&A strategy to bolster our Performance Chemicals segment and establish a manufacturing base in South America. We maintain a strong, debt-free balance sheet and are well-positioned for further acquisitions, consistent shareholder returns, and organic growth.”
Bruce McDonald, president of Performance Chemicals at Innospec, also shared his excitement. “Integrating QGP’s capabilities and team into Innospec strengthens our offerings in Brazil and globally. We’re eager to provide a broader range of solutions to our customers,” McDonald said.
