Gulf Oil Lubricants India launches “entry-level” synthetic motor oil for passenger cars
Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd. recently launched a new “entry-level” synthetic motor oil, Gulf Ultrasynth X, which is suitable for new-generation passenger cars in the compact mid-size to premium mid-size segments.
Gulf Oil said this motor oil meets most original equipment manufacturers’ (OEMs) recommendations for this category, including Maruti’s K-series engines.
With a viscosity grade of SAE 5W-30, this multi-grade engine oil is suitable for varying temperature conditions throughout the year, a Gulf Oil statement added.
With regards to performance quality, the motor oil meets API SN and ILSAC GF-5 service category requirements, said Gulf Oil.
“We have a small market share in the passenger car segment. By launching the product in Delhi, the biggest market for passenger cars in India, we hope to increase our market share substantially over the next two-three years,” said Ravi Chawla, Gulf Oil Lubricants India managing director.
Currently, Gulf Oil Lubricants are sold in approximately 50,000 to 60,000 retail outlets in India. Chawla said that Gulf Oil’s aim is to increase its distribution footprint by 15% yearly.
To differentiate itself in India’s highly competitive lubricant market, Gulf Oil Lubricants is investing in its brand, with six, up to seven, percent of its annual revenues being spent on branding.
Gulf Oil Lubricants India also launched new packaging, which was inspired by the proud and long heritage of Gulf’s association with motorsports, including the World Endurance Championships at Le Mans- 24 hours.
