FUCHS and Dumarey launch hydrogen engine lubricant

The FUCHS Group, the largest independent lubricant company based in Mannheim, Germany, and the Dumarey Group, a pioneer in propulsion systems, have announced the development of a market-ready lubricant for hydrogen internal combustion engines. This milestone marks a significant advancement in sustainable automotive technology, resulting from their strategic collaboration initiated in 2021.

The partnership has also led to cutting-edge lubricants for e-axle reducers, further expanding FUCHS’ portfolio of solutions for modern mobility applications. The new hydrogen engine lubricant is engineered to optimise performance, efficiency, and durability while reducing environmental impact.

“We are excited to continue our collaboration with DUMAREY in the field of future propulsion systems. Our innovative lubricants are engineered to meet the unique specification of hydrogen engines and electric powertrains, ensuring optimal performance and contributing to the future of mobility and power generation,” said Carsten Meyer, executive vice president, Mining Division & OEM Division, FUCHS SE.

The hydrogen lubricant aligns with Dumarey Group’s mission to enable sustainable mobility. “Cooperating with FUCHS allowed us to push the boundaries of what is possible in sustainable automotive technology and has been a key contributor to DUMAREY commitment to enable sustainable mobility for all, developing leading edge hydrogen and electrical propulsion solutions,” said Pierpaolo Antonioli, chief technology officer, Dumarey Group.

This joint innovation underscores FUCHS and Dumarey’s commitment to delivering high-performance and environmentally responsible solutions. The lubricant complements FUCHS’ extensive range for new mobility applications, further solidifying its leadership in the lubricant industry.
