Fuchs acquires German lubricants supplier

Germany’s Fuchs Petrolub SE announced that it has acquired Deutsche Pentosin-Werke GmbH. Based in Wedel, Germany, Pentosin has been manufacturing quality lubricants and specialties for the international automotive industry since 1927.

Fuchs, based in Mannheim, Germany, was founded in 1931. It has a workforce of 4,000 employees in a total of 50 operating companies worldwide and is the largest independent lubricant company globally.

With this acquisition, Fuchs expands its portfolio of automotive lubricants and can offer its customers all over the world an even more comprehensive range of products from a single source.

Pentosin’s products complement the international activities of Fuchs. With sales revenues of EUR 135 million (USD 153 million) in 2014, Pentosin has 190 employees and plants in Wedel and Dormagen, Germany, as well as a smaller subsidiary in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The transaction is subject to the approval of antitrust authorities.
