PREVIEW: CHINESE BASE OIL MARKET AND QUALITY ANALYSIS

Due to the highly competitive gasoline and diesel markets in China, state-owned oil companies such as CNPC, Sinopec, CNOOC and independent refineries are all keen to develop their base oil production capacity. It is critical for their long-term strategy. For the last two years, the new production capacity of independent refineries is nearly 1.1 million tonnes.

Wang Dong, Senior Engineer and Director of Base Oil Research at PetroChina Dalian Lube R&D Institute, will present a Chinese base oil update at F+L Week 2018, the premier fuels and lubricants industry conference – to be held in Macao from March 6-9, 2018. The presentation is part of a deliberate focus on the Chinese growth market at next year’s conference.

Dong’s paper is entitled ‘Chinese Base Oil Market and Quality Analysis’ and will focus on Chinese base oil output and import volumes in recent years. The PetroChina representative is very familiar with the quality of base oil in China and Asia-Pacific market, boasting a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the Dalian University of Technology in 2005, and 12 years of experience in the field of base oil research.

The presentation will place significant emphasis on base oil quality analysis of booming independent refineries, including analysis on quality difference and stability, and a proposed direction of quality improvement of independent refineries’ base oil. Dong will also share with F+L Week attendees the current situation and strategy on base oil of PetroChina.
