YPF Brasil and Lucas Oil forge South American lubricants alliance
In a move set to reshape the automotive products landscape in South America, YPF Brasil has partnered with Lucas Oil, a U.S.-based lubricants and automotive products company. This partnership marks Lucas Oil’s entry into the South American market, with YPF Brasil spearheading the production of a wide array of Lucas Oil products in Brazil.
This collaboration will see YPF Brasil, the Argentine oil company’s subsidiary, manufacturing a comprehensive portfolio of Lucas Oil products. These products, tailored for light vehicles, heavy vehicles, motorcycles, agriculture, and industry, will be produced at the YPF Brasil manufacturing plant in São Paulo. This venture not only caters to the Brazilian market but extends across the entire South American distribution network.
VT Power group, the licensed holder of Lucas Oil brand and distribution in Brazil, plays a pivotal role in this strategic alliance. Fernando Ruano, international director at VT Power, expressed his enthusiasm about the expansion plan for the Lucas Oil brand in the region. “Our coverage plan is ambitious, targeting the South American continent and diving into diverse local markets. The starting point is Brazil, and with the backing and production support from YPF Brasil, we are poised to progress in this strategy,” Ruano said.
Established in the late 1980s and headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.A., Lucas Oil is a brand synonymous with a wide range of automotive products, including lubricating oils, additives, and solutions. The brand is also known for holding the naming rights to Lucas Oil Stadium, the home ground for the Indianapolis Colts football team.
In December 2023, Lucas Oil also forged a strategic partnership with Comercial Lucar, Brazil’s leading wholesale distributor in the automotive, industrial, and heavy equipment lubricants and filters sector. Comercial Lucar will serve as the exclusive distributor for Lucas Oil additives in Brazil.
