Shrieve Chemical expands portfolio with TLC acquisition

Shrieve Chemical Company, a Gemspring Capital portfolio company based in The Woodlands, Texas, U.S.A., and a leading chemicals distributor, announced its acquisition of TLC Ingredients, a distributor of food ingredients, industrial chemicals, and phenolic resins, based in Crest Hill, Illinois, U.S.A. The terms of the transaction remain undisclosed.

Founded in 2001, TLC Ingredients has earned a reputation as a top-tier distributor, recognised for operational excellence, food safety, and responsible distribution. The acquisition allows Shrieve Chemical to expand its Midwest presence and enhance its reach in the rapidly growing food ingredients sector. Additionally, this move strategically positions Shrieve to capitalise on its existing product lines, serving TLC’s specialty industrial clients, who have depended on TLC for Durez phenolic resins for more than two decades.

George Fuller, CEO of Shrieve Chemical, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting TLC Ingredients’ exceptional business acumen, industry-leading distribution facility, robust supplier relationships, and diverse product offerings that cater to several global end-markets. He emphasised that TLC’s innovative approach and customer-centric focus are in line with Shrieve’s strategic vision, aiming to deliver augmented value to customers and suppliers.

Tommy Turiff, president of TLC Ingredients, shared his optimism about partnering with Shrieve Chemical, noting the shared commitment to excellence and customer service. He anticipates that this partnership will bring combined expertise and capabilities to the market, enhancing resource availability and innovation for customers.
