Mobil SHC Cibus Production Facilities Earn Food Safety Management Certification

SHANGHAI, CHINA – ExxonMobil Lubricants & Petroleum Specialties Company, a division of Exxon Mobil Corporation, today announced it is the first lubricant provider to report the ISO 22000:2005 certification of facilities manufacturing , NSF H1-registered lubricants. This accreditation of facilities producing Mobil SHC™ Cibus high performance synthetic lubricants, alongside the energy efficiency benefits of the Mobil SHC Cibus range, can help companies advance both the safety and performance of their operations.

The ISO 22000 certification is one of the industry’s most recognised, stringent and comprehensive food and beverage safety standards. Established by the International Organization of Standardization, ISO 22000 is a food safety management system with a set of specified requirements that ensure a company’s ability to control food safety at every step of the manufacturing process. As product safety is the number one priority for food manufacturers, the ISO accreditation of the Mobil SHC Cibus range provides greater reassurance of product integrity.

This certification comes shortly after ExxonMobil revealed the energy efficiency potential of the Mobil SHC Cibus Series. Food and beverage companies can achieve potential energy efficiency savings of up to 3 percent by using this advanced synthetic lubrication in gear oil applications. Another key benefit is that Mobil SHC Cibus Series lubricants are formulated to meet nut-, wheat- and gluten free requirements and are suitable under Halal and Kosher dietary law.

Ideal for hydraulic, gear air compressor applications, the Mobil SHC Cibus Series lubricants offer high load carrying capacity, excellent wear protection, long-term oxidation stability and anti-rust and anti-corrosion features. In addition to prolonging machinery life, the series can help to extend oil drain intervals to help food and beverage processors realise valuable efficiency and sustainability benefits.

“ExxonMobil is committed to the highest standards of manufacturing hygiene and safety, and we are proud to again lead our peers in the lubricant industry by becoming the first company to produce in facilities which have achieved ISO 22000 certification,” said Yan Côté, global business development advisor, ExxonMobil Lubricants & Petroleum Specialties Company. “In addition to protecting product integrity during manufacturing, Mobil SHC Cibus lubricants can help companies improve the energy efficiency and productivity of their operations.”

Energy efficiency relates solely to the fluid performance when compared to conventional (mineral) reference oils of the same viscosity grade in circulating and gear applications. The technology used allows up to 3 percent efficiency compared to the reference when tested in a worm gearbox under controlled conditions. Efficiency improvements will vary based on operating conditions and applications. (January 24, 2013)
