Lubrizol Grease experts to present at NLGI June 15-18, 2013

CLEVELAND – The Lubrizol Corporation continues to demonstrate technical leadership in the grease industry at the upcoming NLGI 80th Annual Meeting in Tucson, Arizona, June 15-18, 2013. Lubrizol is a platinum sponsor of the meeting, and our experts will present two technical papers, contribute to NLGI’s educational course offerings and participate in the accompanying tabletop exhibits.

As the automotive market focuses on increasing energy efficiency and fuel efficiency, attention has turned to minimizing possible energy losses due to friction. On Monday, June 17 at 11:10 a.m., Dr. Gareth Fish will present “Friction Modifiers for Lubricating Greases,” discussing what types of additives work best for different types of greases. Dr. Fish will present the results of the 250+ friction and wear tests encompassed in these extensive research studies and the implications for grease lubricated componentry in a wide variety of applications.

Lubrizol’s grease experts continue to focus on meeting the market demands for longer bearing life, and on Tuesday, June 18, at 2:40 p.m., Bill Ward will present a paper he authored with Scott Capitosti, “Ashless Multifunctional Additive Technology for Rolling Element Bearings.” This paper is a follow-up to the 2009 paper by Fish and Ward (“Development of Greases for Extended Bearing Life”), which focused on zinc-based additive technology. Both the ashless and zinc-based multipurpose technologies offer extended life performance and high speed, high temperature bearing protection.

On Tuesday, at 4:00 p.m., Dr. Fish will be facilitating a town-hall meeting on the future of NLGI automotive service greases. This hour-long session will focus on the changing test procedures required to meet evolving specifications.

Also on Monday and Tuesday, Lubrizol will once again provide significant support to NLGI in their educational course offerings. In the NLGI Basic Grease Education course, Dr. Fish will teach the Introduction to Grease and the Automotive Greases classes and Mr. Ward will conduct the Additives for Greases class. Dr. Fish will also teach the Seal Compatibility class in the NLGI Application and Maintenance Grease Education course.
