Launching ‘Kyubu’ service station based on gas station … Gas station logistics hub consolidation
GS Caltex and SK Energy will jointly launch QBoo, a gas station-based smart storage service.
Kuebu is the second cooperative project of the first and second companies in the oil industry following Homepick, a courier service based on a gas station. As a result, the logistics hub of the gas station, which the two companies have been promoting, is expected to become more resilient.
The cube is a new business that allows customers to conveniently use services such as courier storage, used goods transactions, laundry, and storage of goods by utilizing smart storage boxes installed at gas stations.
The Smart Archive service dramatically eliminates the biggest inconvenience of meeting time and place between parties in existing face-to-face transactions, enabling them to create new value from the customer’s perspective.
Customers using the queue section can use the unmanned courier service, and can deal with the other party without contacting the other party when dealing with the used goods. In addition, the laundry can leave the laundry even when the door is not opened, and it is possible to enjoy various benefits such as keeping personal items safe for a long time.
In terms of gas stations, it is expected that sales will increase due to the increase in the number of incoming customers, as well as the additional profit generated by utilizing the smart storage box as an advertising platform in the future.
A number of start-up companies participated in the Kyubu service, adding meaning to creating a win-win ecosystem between start-ups and conglomerates.
Smart Cube (CEO Yoo Si-yeon) is responsible for smart library production, software development and system operation. Lee White (CEO Kim Hyun-woo) will operate the laundry service, and Mataju (representative Lee Joo-mi) will operate the goods storage service in conjunction with each other. Second country (representative Lee Seung-woo), which is a representative used trading site in Korea, handles used goods trading service.
GS Caltex and SK Energy will launch the service at 20 gas stations in Seoul, including gas stations, SK Energy Boramae gas stations, and GS Caltex Samsung from October 10. The company plans to gradually expand its base gas stations in consideration of customer response and business feasibility.
In connection with the launch of the service, Kyobu said, “GS Caltex and SK Energy will cooperate to give new service value to the gas station and make a second ecosystem with the start-up.” Kuebu, which is installed in a gas station space that is easy to access the car, will be able to provide convenience to both the car and the walker. ”
Meanwhile, the two companies said they are considering opening new services related to used goods transactions based on gas station logistics hubs in January next year.
In September, GS Caltex and SK Energy launched Homepick, a new concept courier service, as the first cooperative project to utilize gas stations as shared infrastructure. Thanks to the service advantage of “picking up anywhere within one hour,” the company has been cruising in the first three months of its official service, exceeding 10,000 orders per day.
