Infineum China seeks potential ‘leaders of the future’ with expansion of Chinese university and technical school partnership scheme

6 November 2014 – Shanghai, China
A new initiative in China to recruit top-tier talent – and potentially the chemical industry leaders of the future – has been announced by Infineum, one of the world leaders in the formulation, manufacture and marketing of petroleum additives for fuels and lubricants.

Last year, Infineum announced it had forged close partnerships with several top universities in China that are acclaimed for their chemical engineering & technology expertise. Four students went on to take up full time roles within Infineum this July. These universities are now joined by a further three leading technical schools* that have been carefully chosen by Infineum.

The new recruitment push announced today aims to identify a further group of talented individuals that can fulfil a range of highly skilled roles within Infineum’s international business, including operators, lab technicians, logistic operation assistants, as well as management trainees who could go on to become the future leaders of the company.

Trevor Russell, Executive Vice President of Infineum International, said: “Infineum believes passionately in its staff and, with China projected to be the largest fuel and lubricant additive market in the world by 2020, we need to ensure that we recruit the very best to both continue to deliver the highest levels of service our customers expect, and to meet the future needs of the markets in which we operate.

“2014 has been a landmark year for Infineum’s China business with the opening of our China Business Technology Centre at the Jinqiao Economic and Technology Development Zone in Shanghai and ground breaking at our new wholly-owned blending plant at Zhanjiagang, Jiangsu which is on schedule to open in 2015. Our new recruits will therefore be joining at an exciting time as we continue our growth in Asia Pacific.”

Successful university candidates will be taken through Infineum’s comprehensive ’Early Career Programme’ programme covering several rotations in different functions and countries, while those joining from Chinese technical schools will be enrolled onto an intensive six-month training scheme before commencing their roles proper. Depending on the role, new staff are also provided with a series of training to give them the skills they need to function effectively within Infineum’s truly global organisation.

Fu Limin, Managing Director for Infineum China, added: “We believe Infineum as an organisation offers unparalleled opportunities for students with the right scientific backgrounds and ambition. The partnerships we have developed with a number of renowned universities and technical schools in China mean that we have access to some of the brightest minds in chemistry, and we very much look forward to welcoming this year’s intake.”
