Infineum Announces Commencement of Construction of Singapore facility Expansion
14 February 2012 – Infineum will commence construction of a new salicylate manufacturing facility at its Jurong Island site in Singapore in the first quarter of 2012. This is the single largest investment that Infineum has made in its history.
Chiyoda Singapore (Pte.) Limited. has been appointed to carry out the detailed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) phase of the project. Start-up of the new facility is planned at the end of 2013.
Calcium salicylate is a unique detergent component, a critical part of Infineum’s highly-differentiated top tier passenger car and heavy-duty engine oil formulations as well as of its marine oil additive product slate. The new plant is an important addition to Infineum’s global supply capability for these chemical additives.
Trevor Russell, Infineum Group Vice President of Sales & Marketing and Chief Strategy Officer commented: “With excellent assistance from the relevant Singapore government departments, we are on track to meet our 2013 start up target. Infineum is convinced that this project is key to reinforce further Infineum’s commitment to the reliable supply of its technology-leading additives to support the growth of its key customers”.
Sara Lefcourt, Infineum Group Vice President of Supply and the project VP Sponsor added: “Over the last nine months, the project has been progressed flawlessly. We are committed to continue on that path and deliver a flawless start up within the final quarter of 2013. The location of the new Singapore facility will allow Infineum to supply more readily the fast growing Asia Pacific market and to further strengthen supply reliability globally. Reliability in all we do is Infineum’s commitment for now and for the future”
