Global standards leader ASTM International to hold board meeting and events in Houston

Today, ASTM International, one of the world’s leading standards developers, announced that it will hold its board meeting and related events in Houston, Texas, (USA) on Oct. 16-18.

“Houston-based leaders in petroleum, infrastructure, aerospace, academia, testing, and many other fields rely on ASTM International standards to drive quality, performance, and innovation,” said D. Thomas Marsh, the organization’s board chairman, and president and CEO of Centrotrade Minerals and Metals, Inc. “Our board is excited to meet in Houston and to build relationships with people who both contribute to and use our internationally-recognized technical standards and services.”

On Tuesday, Oct. 17, board members will hold events and meetings in the Houston area with:

  • Air Liquide,
  • Baker Hughes, a GE Company,
  • Bray International,
  • Bureau Veritas,
  • Elcometer,
  • ExxonMobil,
  • Forterra,
  • Fugro,
  • Huntsman Advanced Materials,
  • Martin Asphalt Company,
  • NASA,
  • NBM Metals,
  • PAC,
  • Rinker Materials,
  • SGS,
  • Shell,
  • Thermo/Probes,
  • University of Houston,
  • U.S. Bolt Manufacturing, and
  • U.S. Department of Interior.

In addition, board members, spouses, and staff will volunteer at the Houston Food Bank on the afternoon ofWed. Oct. 18. According to their website, the Houston Food Bank “will provide food and supplies in the short term and for many months to come to residents in southeast Texas who will struggle to rebuild their lives” after Hurricane Harvey. With support from the board of directors, ASTM International also made a one-time gift of $25,000 to AmeriCares.

Since 2000, ASTM International’s twice-yearly board meetings have been held in Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
