Global energy experts to converge at AOGC 2011

The 16th Asia Oil and Gas Conference (AOGC 2011) is set to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur from 5 to 7 June 2011.

Managed and organised by PETRONAS, AOGC 2011 will once again play host to diverse, high-level participants comprising industry leaders and policy makers, senior officials of oil and gas companies and representatives of other related public and private establishments who will be engaging in discussions and deliberations on key industry issues while pursuing business-building and networking.

With the theme of “Unfolding a New Era”, this year’s Conference seeks to discuss the growing economic and political significance of Asia as well as its strengthening position as a major energy consumer and producer that will shape the future direction of the global oil and gas industry.

Among the key concerns expected to be deliberated are:

The changing oil and gas industry dynamics especially the shift in economic and political significance from the West to the East.
Breakthroughs in technology that accelerated the development and production of unconventional oil and gas resources and how they will impact and shape the competitive landscape of the global gas industry
The growing economic clout of Asian emerging economies particularly China, which has overtaken Japan to become the second largest economy in the world after the U.S.

PETRONAS’ President & CEO, Dato’ Shamsul Azhar Abbas who is also the Chairman of the AOGC’s Advisory Panel, will deliver the Welcoming Address, while Mr. Christophe De Margerie, Chairman and CEO of Total SA, will deliver this year’s State of the Industry Address.

The Conference, first held in 1996, is Asia’s premier oil and gas gathering which has attracted more than 12,000 participants in its more than a decade’s history. This year, the Conference is expected to attract approximately 1,000 participants.

AOGC 2011 is co-managed with Conference Connection Inc (CCI) and the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER).
