ExxonMobil, Zeeco partner on hydrogen-ready ultra low NOx burners
ExxonMobil and industrial combustion specialist Zeeco announced on February 20th a strategic alliance offering Zeeco’s next-generation FREE JET Gen 3 ultra low NOx burners ready for 100% hydrogen fuel. The technology helps manufacturers cut emissions as they transition from natural gas.
When paired with ExxonMobil’s proposed blue hydrogen supply, wide adoption can support decarbonization across sectors. ExxonMobil itself will install units at its Baytown, Texas, U.S.A., complex, enabling low carbon production.
The customized burners overcome common infrastructure barriers for swapping natural gas with hydrogen. Zeeco Director Eric Pratchard said the flexible design allows easy firing of any hydrogen mix, letting users reduce or eliminate CO2 emissions completely over time.
Zeeco SVP Mike Carlisle added that ExxonMobil’s capabilities and commitment to progress energy transitions at scale maximizes emerging solutions impact. The long-time collaborators continue driving innovations enabling the path to sustainable, modern living.
