Emissions experts converge on Seoul as South Korea pursues VW lawsuit
The start of the year saw news surrounding the South Korean government’s proposed class action lawsuit against VW over the emissions scandal repeatedly hit the headlines. Meanwhile the first ever Integer Emissions Summit & AdBlue® Forum Asia Pacific, being held in Seoul on 6-7 April 2016, gained momentum as more speakers, including three government ministers, confirmed their attendance.
The decision to bring Integer’s well established Emissions Summit Series to Asia Pacific coincides with the continued troubles for VW globally. According to local news sources, Volkswagen issued an apology to its Korean consumers in January 2016. This was followed by a statement from the company stating that they are ‘doing their utmost’ to resolve the issue.
These developments come during a crucial period of progression for the emissions sector across the region. Not only is the VW scandal weighing on the industry, but Euro VI equivalent standards are also coming into force for heavy-duty vehicles in both South Korea and Japan. Advanced NRMM emissions control standards are already in place in these countries and further stringent standards are driving significant technical progress in the marine emissions sector as well.
The AdBlue® market will also see direct consequences of more stringent legislation and it is thought that consumption could rise by up to 12% as more vehicles equipped with SCR systems enter into the market.
There is much to discuss for all stakeholders in the Asia Pacific emissions industry.
Over 100+ experts gather in Seoul
The forthcoming Integer Emissions Summit in Seoul, South Korea, will bring together representatives from The Ministry of Environment South Korea, The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan and The National Institute of Environmental Research of Korea, alongside senior executives from Doosan Engine, Hyundai Heavy Industries and Korea Energy Agency (among many others) to address an audience of up to 100+ key industry stakeholders.
Additionally, the conference will welcome senior figures from Southwest Research Institute and the European Commission, who will provide vital information on the developments of emissions control regulations in North America and Europe, including ultra-low NOx standards, CO2 fuel efficiency measures and real world emissions issues.

About the conference
Integer Emissions Summit & AdBlue® Forum Asia Pacific 2016 will take place at The Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel, on 6-7 April in Seoul, South Korea. Key topics will include legislation, technology and strategy within the heavy-duty commercial vehicle sector, marine vessels and non-road mobile machinery.
