Edinburgh, Scotland has been chosen as this year’s location for the 2017 Biofuels International Conference & Expo
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the event brings together an international audience to discuss a range of topics relating to the biofuels industry.
The European Commission has recently released its plans for biofuels post 2020 with the updated Renewable Energy Directive – RED II. This much-needed clarification is significant as it means companies can make decisions according to the new directive and investments can be made with the future in mind. Opportunities undoubtedly still remain as the sector evolves taking new legislation into account and renewable energy targets will still need to be met, as governments remain committed to reducing their country’s GHG imprint.
Biofuels will continue to play a crucial role in the fuel supply chain with current and new producers looking to improve their processes and search for new markets, whether that be aviation, marine or vehicle biofuels.
This year’s focus at the 10th Biofuels International Conference & Expo will be on the latest developments in biofuels policy, international biofuels trading, sustainability, solutions for first-generation producers, progress in advanced biofuels and information on feedstock pricing and trends.
Attendees, exhibitors and sponsors will also benefit from an enlarged conference and exhibition area as the event will be co-hosted with the Bioenergy Insight Conference & Expo. With over 200 delegates expected over 2 days, the organisers are also planning site visits and to really whet the appetite of those present, a whisky tour. Peter Patterson, publisher of the global journals Biofuels International and Bioenergy Insight, states:
“We’re hugely excited about hosting the event in Edinburgh. Our research amongst last year’s delegates showed great interest in the city and Edinburgh has a rich heritage for delegates to enjoy and explore before, after and even during the meeting.” He goes on to say “we have built up a reputation for organising high-level conferences and we are regularly complimented on the networking opportunities that our events offer. We have a few novel ideas for Edinburgh so we’re sure people won’t be disappointed”.
