Chevron Oronite to present at the 22nd ICIS World Base Oils & Lubricants Conference 2018

SAN RAMON, Calif., February 5, 2018 – Chevron Oronite announced that Ronald Brand, marine product line specialist, Chevron Oronite, will be speaking at the 22nd World Base Oils and Lubricants Conference, which is being held February 21-23, 2018 in London at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge. He will be delivering a presentation titled: “Anticipating Change in the Marine Lubricants Market” on February 22 from 4 to 4:45 p.m.

In 2020, the maximum Sulphur level in marine fuels for all ships trading outside Sulphur Emission Control Areas (ECAs) will go down from 3.5% to 0.5%. Brand will explain the impact of these International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations on marine lubricants. “I will talk about current and future trends and the need to identify, develop, and commercialize improved lubricants to address the changing performance requirements demanded by changes in marine engine designs and an expanded slate of alternative marine fuels, such as distillate, LNG, and Low Sulphur Fuel Oils,” said Brand. “I will also describe the steps that are required to develop and approve lubricants for shipping and power generation applications.”

The 22nd World Base Oils and Lubricants Conference 2018 will be looking at models for the future of the industry. More specifically, the presenter will be answering questions about how the industry will deal with increasing regulations and declining lubricant demand.
