Chevron Oronite launches Paratone® Viscosity Index improver website

3 May 2012 – Chevron Oronite recently announced the launch of its newly-developed PARATONE® Viscosity Index Improver (VII) website. The site is a new communication channel that provides important information about PARATONE products. In addition, it contains general educational information about why VIIs are used and how they work.

“We believe this website will benefit individuals across a broad range of knowledge and experience levels,” said Bill Paschal, Global Viscosity Index Improver Business Manager, Chevron Oronite. “Those having limited knowledge and understanding of VIIs will benefit from the educational aspects of the site, and experienced customers will now have ready access to more detailed product information and tools that are also available.”

The PARATONE VII website is organized into several sections. The first is about viscosity basics, which includes information about viscosity and why having the right VII can mean the success or failure of an additive or finished lubricant. The second discusses the institutions and organizations involved in defining lubricant performance requirements. This section also contains live links to the organizations themselves. The third section includes a high level overview of how Chevron Oronite creates and provides innovative, high-performing VIIs that offer flexibility to formulators. The fourth reviews the features and benefits of PARATONE products. The last section is a formulation toolkit through which customers will be able to access more detailed information and tools.

“We expect the PARATONE website will give our customers a better understanding of our products and the benefits they offer. The company confirmed that some areas of the website, such as the toolkits and detailed product information, will only be available to customers after completing a registration and validation process that will enable access via a user name and password.
