Beijing, China – On 13 September, Chevron Oronite hosted a full day event in Beijing, China that combined an Automotive Engine Oil (AEO) Technology Summit followed by an evening celebration to commemorate its upcoming centennial.
Over 200 customer representatives and industry stakeholders took part in the Technology Summit. Presentation topics included an overview of Oronite’s comprehensive AEO technology support offerings in China, including an expanding presence of in-country field testing capabilities. Also discussed were updates on the latest Global AEO specifications and trends in the market that featured a look at the special lubrication needs of TGDI engines, such as LSPI and turbocharger deposit control. Highlighting the summit was a panel discussion on AEO trends and various topics of interest that was comprised of representatives from lubricant suppliers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and RIPP (Research Institute of Petroleum Products), the entity that oversees China lubricant specifications.
“Oronite was extremely pleased to welcome so many of our customers in China and actively involve them in a dialogue on the many AEO technology issues and opportunities we collectively face,” stated Eugene Ng, country manager, China, Chevron Oronite. “We especially appreciated having RIPP and automotive OEM representatives participate in the discussions, which made them even more valuable for our customers.”
The day was capped with a celebratory program that included various entertainment and a dinner that was attended by over 300 customers, government officials, industry stakeholders, and Oronite employees to recognize the 99th anniversary of the Oronite brand. First introduced by Standard Oil of Southern California in 1917, Oronite has been associated with quality fuel and lubricant additives for nearly 100 years and the Beijing event helped launch the celebration of Oronite’s centennial, which will continue through 2017.
