ASTM International highlights Petroleum Lab Certificate Program, small businesses, more at biannual meeting

BELLEVUE, Wash., June 20, 2016 — More than 1,000 of the world’s top experts in petroleum and other industries will meet at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue, Wash., June 26-30 to create and revise technical standards that support technology and innovation.

Also at the meeting:

  • ASTM will launch the Petroleum Lab Technician Certificate Program which includes online, video-assisted training modules on key test methods. Free workshops on this topic will take place June 27 and 28 from 4 to 5pm.
  • ASTM staff will host a panel on June 28 from 12 to 1pm featuring small-business leaders who have reaped benefits from participating in the standards development process.  (See separate release.)
  • ASTM will launch a new video, “Fueling Our World,” highlighting ASTM’s leadership in developing oil and gas standards. (Available now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dD1kBbvzdas.)
  • ASTM will present its President’s Leadership Award and awards of merit to major contributors to standards development (Nassia Telezpi, C. Patrick Maggi, and Richard Stanley).

Throughout the week, subcommittees and task groups will work on standards for petroleum products, liquid fuels, and lubricants (Committee D02) as well as other industries such as paint, water, renewable energy, chemicals, and more.
