ASTM International cancels D02 December 2020 Committee Week

In light of Covid-19 (coronavirus) and ongoing safety concerns for members and staff, ASTM International announced today that all scheduled in-person Committee Weeks (October, November, December in Orlando, Florida, U.S.A., and D02 December in Austin, Texas, U.S.A.) and independent meetings have been canceled through the end of 2020. The decision was based on several factors, including, but not limited to:

• Continued review of information and recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and other governmental bodies.
• Input from ASTM International members whose organizations are increasingly concerned with travel.
• Projected city restrictions in Orlando, Florida, Austin, Texas and other cities with input from the hotels.

Staff managers will be contacting committee leaders to plan alternatives for conducting committee business.

Sleeping room reservations made in the ASTM Group Block for October, November and December 2020 Committee Weeks will automatically be cancelled by the Renaissance SeaWorld and the JW Marriott Austin hotels. Attendees staying at other hotels are responsible for cancelling their own hotel reservations.

Looking forward, we will rely on these and other relevant criteria and input points to assess the status of future scheduled ASTM meetings and events.
