APOGCE 2017 relocated to Jakarta, Indonesia
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (3 October 2017) – The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), its co-organiser the Society of Indonesian Petroleum Engineers (IATMI), and the conference organising committee, have decided to relocate the Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition (APOGCE) 2017 to Jakarta, Indonesia, due to the recent developments in Bali with regards to the imminent threat of the Mount Agung volcano eruption.
Indonesian authorities have raised Mount Agung’s volcano alert status to the highest level following unprecedented seismic activity in the past three weeks. The Centre for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation reports that the increasing frequency of volcanic earthquakes, as well as local tectonic tremors, are compelling indications that an eruption is imminent.
SPE and IATMI have been monitoring and assessing these critical developments in Bali and after thoughtful consideration, having placed the accessibility, safety and wellbeing of our conference delegates, exhibitors and visitors as our utmost priority, APOGCE 2017 will be moved to Jakarta, Indonesia, to take place on the original event dates of 17-19 October 2017.
Our thoughts and hopes are with the people of Bali affected by this uncertain and difficult situation, and for the island to remain safe.
We thank our industry members for their understanding and continued support of APOGCE 2017. SPE is contacting all authors, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and registered conference delegates individually with further details on the relocation of the event to Jakarta.
