As vessels and large ships have huge and expensive engines, it is crucial that any fluid change in its lubricating system will not cause harm. It is prudent that compatibility tests are carried out. However, there are no established industry guidelines. This ALIA Member-to-Member Sharing Session will attempt to lay out the issues when switching lubricant brands, as well as suggest industry best practice guidelines for both the user and the lubricant supplier.
